about

The title of this song is the ancestral word for “bonfire” in Middle English. Bonfires in the late Middle-English period were gigantic pyramids of flammable material employed mostly to cremate the bones of the dead. This song was written specifically to be an introduction track to make it clear that the energy of Goblin Hovel was restored in full, like ever-rising flames of a modern day bonfire. I came to think of it as the bone-fyre in which the woeful self-pity I felt during the production of the last two albums was burnt away to give rise to a renewed sense of purpose. Emerging from the grey ashes of old Goblin Hovel comes a revitalized Dionysian force beginning, as all nightly festivals do, with the lighting of the bonfire!

about

Goblin Hovel

A genre-defying band that entails the cooperation of several artists from several bands of several genres under the direction of a nameless Goblin. They present a view of the modern world through the lens of history, mysticism, and mischief.
