about

"Χθών" roughly translates to "sacred soil," meaning the soil of the underworld. This was written as a mantric hymn to Hades, written in the homeric invocation style. It describes a ritual mentioned in the Odyssey where men dig a sacrificial pit, avert their faces out of respect and fear of Hades, sprinkle milk, wine, and honey into the pit, and then cut the throat of a bull and cast it into the ground for Hades and the soil to swallow up.

lyrics

Aidas, Orcus
Agesailos
You who know all
Giver of wealth
Polydegmon
Eubuleus
All who take
Return to you
Stygius, Lethe
Cocytus, Phlegethon
Lead the way
And I will follow
Agesander
Ploutodotes
This is wealth
I kill to have
*Eidinai
Aidoneus
Awides
Chthon.
Great one, I avert my face
Spill this blood into the ground
Can’t you hear the pound of fists
Rattling adamantine walls?
One day I shall stand before you
Shall I feel the bident twist?
Will I feel the three-jawed bite?
Or shall the golden gates be opened?
